Thank you so much for your interest in working at Camp Piankatank!
If you are applying for kitchen staff or weekend activity staff please move forward below. If you are applying for a camp counselor position the below information is important for you.
Being a camp counselor can be a rewarding and life changing experience. Here are a few things for you to consider before you fill out and turn in this application.
At Camp Piankatank, we have a few requirements that must be met before we consider someone for our overnight counselor employment opportunity and they are the following:
To be considered for our day camp counselor staff here are the requirements:
Here are some additional things to think about before filling out the application:
Know that you should be here:
We ask that only serious applicants send in their application. Be sure this is where God would have you spend your summer. I would strongly encourage you, if you have not already, to take time and pray about your decision to work at camp. Being at camp is a significant time commitment. It requires serious dedication and a change in lifestyle for the duration of the summer.
Working at camp is not like a typical job:
Time off here is much different than most jobs. Even though there may be a weekend with no groups here, you’re still required to be on campus. Don’t worry, you’ll have time to relax and re-energize. However, if hired, your contract requires you to be here for the designated dates unless otherwise arranged in advance with the Directors.
We do not allow counselors to have cell phones or computers/tablets in the cabins. Electronic devices are collected when you arrive at camp for staff training. You will have time to get on computers and call family and friends during the week, but only on your break times. If hired, the Directors will provide you with emergency contact numbers to give to your family. I would encourage you to see this as an opportunity to fully commit to your ministry at camp.
A summer at Camp Piankatank involves long and stressful days; however, the reward from the job far outweighs the stress. You develop close relationships with staff in a fun environment. But most importantly, you have an opportunity to share the love of Christ with hundreds of campers. Almost everyone who works at camp leaves a different person having grown significantly in their relationship with Christ.
We’re telling you these things not to scare you off, but to show you that we expect our staff to take their commitment to Camp Piankatank seriously. So, if after reading this you still have an interest in working at Camp Piankatank, please fill out the application. After we receive it, we will get in touch with you to set up an interview.
Blessings,
Cal Hedeen
